Hi Lois,

Did you eventually find what you were looking for?

If not, I think the reason you are having trouble is that it looks like Adam had a son named Chris or Christ, as well as one named Christian. As you probably know, it was not unusual to have more than one child with the same name or variations, sort of like John and Johnathan being two different names.

So, I have found a Christian Stueckrath, though with no additional information, on "Find A Grave" here: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/58938053/christian-stueckrath

As you will see, he lived from 1889 to 1918 and was buried in Odebolt. So, yes, he died very young.

That Chris may or may not be your grandfather. There was also a Chris or Christ Stueckrath, son of Adam, who was born in 1865 in Germany and died August 4th, 1949 (buried in Nebraska). Gravestone here: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36982012/christ-stueckrath

Obviously, he didn't die young. According to the Adam Stueckrath write-up, Chris (Christian ? or Christ ?) married Stella Manning and had a daughter named Bernice, as you indicated. He may have been twice married: once to Stella Manning (both her and his first marriage - also looks like Stella remarried Bill Buettner), secondly to Martha Schade. Many, but not all, of the children by Martha Schade moved to Nebraska and they and their relatives are buried there. I don't know about the children by Stella Manning ... so that will give me another line of the family to research and will give me some answers to questions of lineage I've had when I have come across burials that look related.

I have a birthdate for Christ as 19 Nov 1865 in Germany and a death date of 4 Aug 1949. Married to Martha Shade in 1893; married 56 years. It seems Christ and Christian are either two different persons, or "Chris" married twice.

I hope this helps. I am of the lineage of Henry Stueckrath, son of Adam. So, we are very distant cousins, 3rd cousins, once removed!

If you have since figured all this out and have additional details to share, I would be happy to receive them ... if you are so inclined! Thanks ... and God bless you!
