I don't know if this is the same Watts family - but if it is, it may give you some leads. I don't believe the Boyer Methodist was located in Vail- I think it was in Wheeler Township, Sac County. - Barb

The Odebolt Chronicle, Odebolt, Iowa "Fifty Years of Progress" Edition, August 25, 1938

A complete stock is carried in the up-to-date drug store of L. H. Watts, who came to Odebolt from Holstein in 1925 to enter the drug business here. He had previously been in business with his brother at Holstein.
Mr. Watts purchased the drug stock of E.R. Bergren, who had located in Odebolt in 1917 after buying out H.R. Stanzel. Prior to Mr. Stanzel, Selby & Potteiger had been in the drug business at the same location. The modern building, which had been erected by E.P. Potteiger, was purchased by Mr. Watts in 1929.

A registered pharmacist, Mr. Watts is a graduate of Highland Park college at Des Moines. Since coming to Odebolt he has kept his sore well stocked with drugs and medicines as well as other items carried by the modern drug store.

I have just posted the above with his photo at
