A pretty little bay mare is left tied to the post at the stable. There was a note attatched to her halter. It read:
To the new owner of the wonderful mare,
Sorry to leave her here unattended. But To be here when another walked her away from me would have been to great a heartbreak. I have lost all that is dear to me. But in an attempt to keep this mare away from the slaughter house I have brought her here. She is expecting a foal any time now. The sire is Black Toney. We were hoping for a colt when all our finances fell through. Maybe one will come. Take good care of this champion mare she is a fighter.
I know she is small for a thoroughbred but she has heart and speed. Maybe she'll pass those traits to her baby. You'll known soon. Feed her oats she loves oats. She also hates being in a stall. So try and give her plenty of time in the fields.
