Hello all!!
Happy New Year! (Belated, I know!) Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. As you can imagine, things have been a little crazy from about Thanksgiving to now…and still going! I’m 7 months pregnant now!! Wishing I could just kick my feet up & nap all day & read pregnancy and baby books =) BUT… the show must go on, as they say.
JAG has been going very well. Don Bellisario, all the producers, writers, cast & crew have been SO wonderful to me. They’ve really done so much to accommodate my pregnancy. They re-wrote some episodes to hide the growing tummy and even scheduled shooting the Season Finale & my parts early so I can be done shooting 6 weeks early, allowing me the time to prepare for the baby before she gets here. So now I don’t have to work the crazy hours & long days OR be on camera when I get really big! I am very grateful to everyone at JAG for that. They are sweethearts.
Let’s see...what else has been happening since the last time we “spoke”? Christmas – crazy but FUN! Family, friends…nice! Been doing a lot of press for JAG and “Bruce Almighty” – the movie I did with Jim Carrey a few months ago. You may have seen the trailer by now (they showed it during the Super Bowl). It looks so funny! I can’t wait to see it myself. It was a blast shooting it – working with Jim was amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed as hard in my whole life!! And of course, it was fun to do a comedy – my first! It was very different from “Mac” =) Please check out www.brucealmighty.com. The movie opens on Memorial Day – May 23rd.
Now it’s time for some “serious stuff”. I think one of the reasons I hadn’t written in a while is that I was waiting, thinking & trying to figure out how I wanted to handle something on my site - the Message Board. As most of you know, it has gotten a little out of control lately (and, unfortunately, a few other times in the past). I actually do log on myself & read a lot of the postings – not all of them all the time. That would be a little tough with almost 50,000 postings so far! But I do check in frequently to see what’s happening and while MOST of the postings are great and I truly appreciate & love to read them, there are some that, honestly, I’d rather not have on my website.
Now, I am a firm believer in freedom of speech and thought and beliefs, but I found myself realizing that my site had gotten away from the original reason I decided to have one in the first place. I wanted a place where I could to share my thoughts, work, and my “personal side” with my fans. As an actress, much of who you are is only seen through someone else’s point of view (the reporters, magazines, photographers, etc.) and sometimes, some of it is not true. Words sometimes get taken out of context or quotes appear that I never said. Because of this, I really wanted my own site where I could communicate with fans, answer some of their questions directly, tell them about my passions (my charities), what was happening in my life & career, and even share some pictures that you wouldn’t see anywhere else – on set, at premieres or parties or doing something I love like wakeboarding and motorcycling.
Of course, I do still get all this across on the site, but the message board has become a central part of the site and unfortunately the message is not always in accord with the message I want to send. So… I’ve decided to remove the message board portion of the site. I know!!!! Some of you are not going to be happy. I totally understand. I wish I didn’t have to, but it’s become too hard to moderate and frankly, a message board should be a free place for everyone to share their thoughts – good & bad, nice or not – for the members of the board to moderate and decide what’s allowed or not. I don’t want to start editing people opinions. You are totally entitled to them. Fortunately, there are a lot of other JAG websites and message boards and I want to give you all a week to figure out how those of you that want to will continue to communicate. I know some of you have gotten really close here and gotten to know each other and I sincerely hope those relationships will continue.
So, take a week. Share your final thoughts. And after that, I hope you will still send in questions to info@catherinebellonline.com because I plan on picking and answering even more now – so we can still communicate with each other. I’ll continue to do letters at least monthly, to keep you posted on what’s happening. And of course, new pictures you won’t see ANYWHERE else!! So I hope you’ll all keep checking back. We promise to keep it interesting, informative and FUN!
