In the 6th book, Harry, Ron, and Hermione continue "Dumbledore's Army" while students around the school go missing, including Ron at the end of the book.

In the 7th book, there is no quidditch due to Voldemort taking over the school. Harry is protected by all the teachers in the school in the Chamber of Secrets. The thing that they don't know is, is that Voldemort is using the Chamber of Secrets to keep all the missing students. Harry finds Ron dead in the Chamber.
