"Ok" she said and kicked Chase into a bouncy canter, keeping him collected underneath her. First came the three steeple chase fences. She led him stretch out now into an extended canter and he flew over the three jumps easily. He was getting more and more excited and Catherine found it difficult to get him back under control after the first three fences. She moved him round in a lop towards the first log, it was only about 2ft and Chase jumped it easily. The next log was slightly wider and Chase had to think about this, he missed a stride but sorted himself out and popped over the log. Next came the tyre jump, which Catherine hadn't wanted to do, Chase didn't like tyres. He seemed to slowdown on approach but Catherine urged him on and with slight hesitation the young horse leaped over the side of the tyres. Next was the hedge leading into another field, Chase didn't have to think about this and jumped in confidently. She galloped him up the hill and then slowed down for the stone jump and trotted to the edge of the track which led back to the stables. She could see most of the course from here and waited for Ryan to finish.
