How did misty go?" He asked as he fastened the chin strap on his helmet and removed the lunge line from the horse. Ryan checked his girth, placed one foot in the stirrup and swung into the saddle with ease. He patted the horses' black sleek neck, and picked up the reins. Gently he squeezed the horse with his thighs. Spider moved on in a walk. Ryan let him stretch out after doing those tight cirles. When the horse relaxed he re-established contact with his mouth, soon asking for trot. The young horse moved merrily onwards, head held high, ears pricked. Ryan steadied him using his voice and changed the rein, trying to keep Spider on the correct bend, using his inside leg. After trot on this rein he incouraged the horse into a canter in the corner. He struck off on the correct leg, but was quite un balanced on rounding the corners. Slowly Ryan steadied him, eventually halting. He verbally praised the horse. "That was his first canter with a man on his back!" He proudly exclaimed
