Subject: Riding Sandstorm

The pair trotted along, they went at quite a pace, although not hurried. The dun mare's ears pricked as her hard hooves rung over the tarmac of the road beneath them and her black mane and tail lifted with the wind she made. Well built young male rose up and down to her rythmical pace, keeping part of her in perfect timing. They turned off into a long grassy track. Human touched mare's sides with his long legs, too long for her really. The equine sprung forwards, straining out her neck and strong legs in a four time motion with a moment of suspension, the most exciting of all gaits, the gallop. Shane no longer could see, the world of trees and field became a blur and he hovered over her back in his stirrups, burrying his hands tight into the wild mane. They began to slow as the end of the track was nearing. Walk, the mare respired deeply as did the boy. Long swinging steps, but her head still high. In the main village now, people, cars and bikes past them, nothing spooking the weary horse as they walked for home...
