Author: Fiona and Sunny skies
Subject: Trying new horse

Fiona mounted the leggy chestnut and steadied her as she champed at the bit, walking on before Fiona had even sat down on her back. "Wooah, you'd better get out of that habit girl!" She took her to the outside grass jumping arena. The chestnut mare lived up to reputation and jogged and pranced, tossing her head when she saw the jumps. "How could 2 mares be so different?" Said Fiona aloud as she asked for trot a go a buck, a shuffle into canter and got pulled onto her neck. Fiona sat up and encouraged her back to a trot. It was very fast and powerful. There was no kidding this horse was an ex race horse, she wanted to GO!
Fiona circled her, trying to balance and steady the mare. Sky relaxed after 10 minutes of monotonous circling. Fiona turned her at a trot to the cross pole. Sky threw up her head and sped towards it. Fiona leant back and tugeed but she appeared not to feel it. Ignoring her aids sky careered around the field, jumped the upright, then the spread and then turned for home. The only problem was the 5 foot post and rail seperating them from the yard. Clinging on to Sky's neck she felt her riseand soar over the fence. Finaly in the yard she stopped. Fiona realised that the mare's best talent was speed and jumping ability, great for cross country but she would have to get a stronger bit to have any control at all.
