Subject: Riding youngsters

Ryan brought in Carnival king from the field. He groomed him, picked out his feet and tacked him up. He didn't have his own saddlery yet, so he used Superlative's which fitted quite well. Ryan sprung onto Kings back, took up the reins and asked him for walk. They walked out of the gate and down the drive onto the country lane at the bottom. He kept the young horse on the verge as cars passed by. When they had walked for about 20 mins he clicked and squeezed with his legs. "Trot on boy" King sprung into action. He had a long raking stride and held his head well as they went along. Ryan slowed him at a juntion, turned left and trotted along the road for a mile. They then took a left turn onto a grass track. Here Ryan let him canter steadily. The track went through the woods, and there was a fallen log in their path. Ryan put him at it and king sprung over easily. They took a left turn in the woods which brought them out at red bracken's cross country course. Ryan popped him over a little tyre fence then walked him home. King was sweaty so he put on a coller sheet and settled him in his stable.
He collected Jungle dancer from hers. Dancer whickered at him and he patted her liver chestnut neck. He tied her up outside and went to fetch her brushes and tack. he brushed her over, tacked up and mounted. Ryan took her in the outdoor school and practiced trotting and walking correctly. Dancer was coming on nicely. He finished after 20 ins and led her back in to her stable. he untacked and brushed her over, picking out her feet. Ryan put away the tack and brushes.
