Subject: LAST FRIDAY

My humble opinions on last friday;

1st band (I think they were called Headrush) - First song was pretty good, second one was too. Then they started playing covers, "Eye of the Tiger" and "I will Survive", and I lost interest. If they have a few more songs with the quality of the 1st one, they could be worth looking out for.

Gravity Switch - First time I'd seen this lot. They played a decent tight set, but they weren't really my cup of tea. Similar to Atari Doll, at points.

Micawba - First time I'd seen these as well. They were canny. The singers Kelly Jones-ish voice, made an impact. Had a couple of catchy tunes. But I was talking most of the way through their set, and didn't pay a lot of attention.

The Breakfast - Fuck me! What a set! Best band of the night, played the best gig I've seen them do. Highlights included "Always Tripping, Always Stoned", "Memory Lapse", and the trimmed down "Know Your Buddha". Absolutely blinding!

Parklandsway - Second best band of the night. They played a quality set, but not as good as the absolute stormer they played the week before with MBA. Weren't helped by being the last of five bands and not getting onstage till well after 11. Technical problems in between songs didn't help either. The extra guitarist on "We Have Lost Control" really does the song justice.

Just wish I hadn't been driving, cos I could have done with getting mashed!
