Come on dudes! Lets have more originality here! When thinking about cover versions to do you need to pick something that you can enhance and give it your own sound. Don't fall into the trap of;

(a) covering a song that a similar sounding band have done (eg. Oasis etc...),
(b) one which you would hear all of the time anyway (eg. Anything by The Jam, Stones, Beatles, Slade etc... which you hear all the time at Bulletproof, Stone Love etc...),
(c) a modern song (cos people will inevitably remember it well and compare them to you).

Look at the types of covers other bands have done and made there own;

"Suicide is painless, theme from M*A*S*H" by the Manics'
"Too much too little too late" by Silversun
"Hit me baby one more time" or "Killer Queen" by Travis
"Handbags and the gladrags" or "Positively 4th Street" by The Stereophonics,
"Dancing in the moonlight" by Toploader
"Woman in love" by The Bluetones
"The Wall" or "Do it again" by The Psychedelic Breakfast
"Does your mother know" by Ash
"Smoothe criminal" by Alien Ant Farm
"Word Up" by Gun
"All day and all of the night" by the Stranglers
"You were always on my mind" by The Petshop Boys

I could go on but I won't. Hopefully you get the message.
So here are my Ideas;

Anything by the Bee Gees (preferably "Grease is the word")
Anything by Squeeze (number 4 in the album charts you know!),
Anything by Glen Campbell (preferably "Wichitta Lineman"),
Anything by The Jacksons (preferably "I want you back"),
"Feel the need" by The Detroit Emeralds
"Don't be cruel" by Elvis
"Lola" by The Kinks
"Hungry like the wolf" by Duran Duran
"Take on me" by A-Ha
"Get the message" by Electronic

Have fun geezers!!!!
