Subject: Battle Royale!!! *some spoilers i guess*

Bought the vcd on Sunday but watched it with my mom last nite.

The basic of the story.. its in the near future and Japan is in economic turmoil. Kids boycott school and juvenile deliquints are everywhere. The government decided to passes this one act called the Millenial Reform School Act (aka Battle Royale Act), where each year the government would place a grade nine class students on a remote isolated island, and make them kill one another (with their given weapon). There's another catch... they must finish this "game" within 3 days. There is only one winner/survivor... if there is more, everyone in that class dies.

i'm sure most of you have heard of this movie.

Pretty cool. The violence is a bit over the top though, like say a regular Japanese teenager can take 10 bullets and still makes a speech b4 he/she kicks the bucket... or spray more bullets to their opponents.

Pretty good character interaction. Even though some of them have only like 10 minutes of screen time, they still manage to make u feel for them.

A bit disturbing... Example? Well, try a geeky nerdy specky kid screaming "I will win this game and go to a good school!" while shooting at you or a cute girl trying to express his love to you and later you found her dead. "I know everything about you... do you know what that means?"

Real thought provoking, i heard the novel has more explainations and details than the movie. But still, i thought the movie is quite good. Definitely a must watch... even my mom liked it.
