Using acrylic latex with silicone will help reduce that. I've used the stuff at work for over 15 years now, and I've never really noticed much shrinkage. Then again, I've always used the type with silicone. As for casting it, I'm not sold on it. Maybe for belts/accessories etc., but filling a closed mold would trap a lot of air, IMO. Worth a shot though, considering how cheap it is. Good luck, and keep me updated with some results.
