Date Posted: 15:09:53 12/07/02 Sat I've done this while I can still remember what my note mean. An audience with Wayne Pygram and Claudia Black. CLUADIA Claudia Black's actually quite funny and I went from not liking her at all to thinking that she's not bad. She seems to be a bit of a choc-o-holic as she kept cadging Maltesers from one of the audience. To break to ice she'd brought a kind of charades machine and had everyone guessing what things were from her clue. She told a story about a promo party they all attended in 2000. Channel 9 I guess, she didn't say. Seems that Hallmark made them take Farscape as part of a package. They don't like SciFi (Well Australian made ones anyway). The promo party was to show what they were going to present in that year. So to start with she had trouble getting in becuse she hadn't got a name badge. She said she was in on of the shows and the woman said "You talent?" Claudia replied that she believed she had some and was waved inside. A little later they were all together and it seems that they feel protective towards Gigi. Farscape wasn't even mentioned in the scheduled programmes so when Gigi found out that stars had their names in stars on the floor she informed them that she was going to look for hers. They were worried that she might be disappointed, but she came back and said,"I can't find it but there's free alcohol at the bar!" Also seems that none of the actors in prosthetics can work in the rain. I don't know whether it dissolves when wet or the make up on them runs. Apparently they were one big happy family on set. Something to disillusion all the shippers. Seems during the scene where Talyn Crichton died and she kissed him, her nose ran and dripped snot . She's 'resting ' at present and would like to work in theatre again but isn't sure if she could deliver the same lines night after night. Says after Farscape, it would be constricting. Her favourite bit in Farscape was playing the outrageous princess in John Quixote. Seems that Ben Browder wrote that one and she was complaining that if he can get then scripts to them on time, why couldn't the script writers. She also liked the episode where they were all dashing around in sand buggys. The one which had Furlow and the Charrids. Said it was fun. WAYNE Actually wants to get back to work. More about that later. Also says he's vowed not to wear another prosthetic unless it's Scorpius. Let out that he lives in Bronte which I assume is a suburb of Sydney. He only got his first drum kit when he was twenty. Before that he was playing bongos in his friend's place. His friend's father had a drum kit and it seems Wayne learnt by copying him and his friend. Sold the first kit when he decided that music wouldn't earn him a living and took up acting. Regretted selling the kit. The Scorpius surcoat is real crocodile faced onto hide. The spine at the rear is the spine plates of the croc. Also the codpiece is crocodile. He told a story about one time he almost lost his cool. It was on a Peacekeeper set , he called it the Facist set, and one of the extras was holding open the door. Well he had one of those days when mouth didn't fit words too well and fluffed the lines twice. The third time he did it the guy muttered something derogatory. Wayne got it right next take and went over to the chap, bear in mind he's in full Scorpius attire, poked him on the chin and asked did he want to eat through a straw for the next three weeks. The crew pulled him away, but next day he got called in front of the producers. The guy and his agent wanted to prosecute Wayne, (He actually touched him , you see). Well to cut a long story short, they asked around and found out that the chap had annoyed a number of folk while he was there. Which meant Wayne had been provoked. He said he should have insisted the director removed him as it was his right to do so, but said he was trying so hard to get the lines right that he never thought of it. That famous Harvey rollercoaster scene. Seems every take was shot through three different lenses so they had to do it about twelve times and in between he was drinking lemonade. After the last take he felt very ill, almost fell out of the car and threw up in a waste bin. The crew all whipped out cameras and took pix of him in his discomfort. Said it was lucky that he hadn't felt that bad earlier or Ben would have found a side of him that he didn't know previously His costume makes trips to the loo planned events between takes. Also he trots around in shorts in between, when he's not required. Scorpius mask and shorts. Says he wishes that he got someone to take a snap of him like that. Finally he and Claudia were exchanging thoughts about New York, good and bad. I had my picture taken with him and got shots of both of them, but have to get them developed. He signed both of my Scorpius portraits. I'd taken the portrait I did of him and he really liked that. I also gave him a packet of allergen free cookies. He was chuffed to bits by them. The bonus was that we had to wait while the digital photo printers spewed out the Wayne and punter photos, so I was able to have a chat with him. He's got to get back to work for financial and professional reasons. Part of that consists of going to America in January for three months to do pilots. Then he's returning to Oz. Said he's a technological dinosaur, but will have to drag himself into the present as he has to rely on other folk when he wants information or to communicate. Well the man wished me a Happy Christmas and shook my hand. I think I was the only one who got that. I really enjoyed the whole affair. It was worth getting up at six o clock. I drove the first thirty miles with breakfast threatening to leave its place of residence. I can't eat first thing, need a couple of hours for stomach to catch up with the rest of me, but had to force it down for the energy. After that settled everything was fine. No traffic hold ups, just a nice smooth journey. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
