Totally off topic: Recipe for beer-can chicken!

Yes, this is far afield even for this motley crew, but I tried this, and it is pretty good. If anyone tries it, let me know how it turns out for you.

One 12 oz can beer
One 3 ˝ to 4 LB chicken, whole
1 TB Worcestershire sauce
2 TB Cajun-style seasoning, or your favorite BBQ rub

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Remove all oven shelves except one, placing it on the bottom rung.

Clean the chicken, removing giblets. Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of the rub inside the body cavity; sprinkle 2 more teaspoons of the rub over the outside of the carcass.
Open the beer can, and make a few more holes in the top of the can. Pour off (but save) half the beer. Add 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce into the beer can. Also add the remaining 2 teaspoons of the rub to the beer.
NOTE: the beer may foam up at this point. This is normal, don't worry about it.

Cram the beer can, open end first, up the large opening between the chicken's legs. Using the chicken's legs and protruding beer can as a tripod, position the critter upright on a broiler pan. Tuck the wings tips behind the chicken's back, so they do not burn. Add the remaining ˝ beer to the broiler pan. Cover with foil. Carefully, place the entire chicken and pan inside the oven.

Cook 1 to 1 ˝ hours, or until done—skin should be a dark, golden brown. A meat thermometer should read about 180 degrees F. You may need to remove foil for the last 10 minutes or so for better browning.

Carefully transfer chicken and beer can to a serving dish (serve while it is still upright), and serve immediately. Adding a party hat, sparklers, and sunglasses are optional.
