Wow...some interesting potential matchups. Here's my take on a few:

Legacy Edition

Northern Iowa - Rick Harzell is their current AD (former BU AD)
Saint Mary's (CA) - Tim Landis (current BU football coach) used to coach at St. Mary's
Drexel - Flannery used to coach here and typically schedules an annual pre-season scrimmage w/ the Dragons.

Beauty Edition

Miami (OH) - very similar campus to Bucknell
Hawaii - for obvious reasons

Tourney Darling Edition

Nevada
Pacific
UW Milwaukee

Payback Edition (teams BU has played once and lost previously)

Evansville (1988)
College of Charleston (2003)
Montana (1992)
New Orleans (1992)
Wichita State (1995)
Old Dominion (1979)
Northeastern (I know they haven't played, but put 'em back on the schedule so Bettencourt can play in Beantown)
UC Irvine (1989)
Canisius (0 - 6 lifetime, we need to beat 'em once)
Ball State (1971, 1998)
Boise State (1994)
Murray State (1990)

There are others that could've made this list but they too are on the road.

The Who B-U? (nice to meet ya edition)

VCU
Montana State
Winthrop
UC Riverside
Cal State Fullerton
Cleveland State
Detroit
Loyola (Chicago)
Bowling Green
Central Michigan
Kent State
Ohio U.
W. Michigan
Valpo
Bradley
Creighton
Southern Illinois
Austin Peay
Eastern Ky
Jacksonville State
UL Lafayette
Western Ky
San Jose State

(Note, surprised to see how many MAC schools BU has never played considering their relative close proximity)

The U Again Edition (MAAC special)

Hofstra
Iona
Loyola (MD)
Manhattan
St. Peter's

On the whole, should be a good matchup whoever we play.

How come the Crusaders are omitted from Bracket Buster Day? Half the teams invited to play are obscure, doormat basketball teams that rest in the RPI 200s. Morehead St.? Illinois St.? Montana St.? I'm glad to see an expanded Bracket Buster, but this is ridiculous. A majority of these teams won't even have .500 records nor make it to the NIT.

I'm surprised not to see the Crusaders playing (unless the school turned down an invitation but I'd be very surprised). At least invite American or Lehigh too if your going to throw in Morehead St.

It'd be nice to see some Ivies in there, but that conference has never done anything creative in terms of letting their teams play outside the league bubble.

I hate to be pragmatic here - but, given that this is a weeknight in the middle of the conference schedule --- closer to home than not seems the ideal choice.

Anybody got a hoops recruiting update out there? I'm terribly curious to see what Pat and staff is able to land this year.

i have to wonder if the staff doesn't find themselves in a new situation. last years success got them in the door for initial discussion with some recruits they would not have had a chance with in the past. but now, they have to balance the hope of signing one or more of these guys with going ahead and offering other recruits the scholarship.

looking at the team roster, they have to be hoping to sign a couple of forwards. this is campus visit time for recruits so i would hope we hear something positive within the next 3 to 4 weeks. if my postulation re balancing offers is accurate, i would expect they will make more offers now if they haven't already begun to do so.

it's a Saturday so a bit more leeway for travel; miss one day of classes. if not in the top 11 tv games, they will be matched regionally for sure.

no one has a preference? i'd say the objectives are, want to be in top 6 so on ESPN or ESPN2 and preferably a team that has some appeal when they visit Sojka next year and we would not have a chance to schedule a home and home with them with out the bracket buster assist.

my list of top choices would be: Creighton, UNI, Nevada, Soutehrn Illinois, or Old Dominion. there are a number of other more regional teams i would like to see us play e.g. Northeastern or Drexel, but like to think we might schedule them on our own.

OK, no more pragmatism. I'll take UW Milwaukee in a televised bracket buster game of mid-majors who made noise in last year's tourney.
