One of the things that may be lost in Bucknell's success is the fact that Bucknell's floor leaders are non-scholarship players.

Consider....Lee and Bettencourt were the last group to come in without the benefit of merit aid. They are our chief perimeter threats and, with Lee, the best rebounder on the team.

Consider....Badmus was the one recruit in his class that was NOT a merit aid recipient. I know this can be disputed but Bucknell would not be achieving what they are without Badmus. His Defense, his floor leadership in the BIGGEST games.

McNaughton obviously in Bucknell's main guy in the middle and frees up the perimeter players with his ability to score within 10ft. However, Tariq is emerging as his principle backup, again, Non-Merit Aid.

Point in this is that while the "role players" and depth of roster can be attributed to Merit Aid, this team is excelling based on the performance of players who took a chance on Bucknell.

Lastly, Pat Flannery is one hell of a coach.
