I am very concerned about this whole tournament. BU scares me a lot. This is a team that finished second in their confrence last year to an outstanding Vermont team. You can bet they will be psyched to play the Bison.

Even more scary is the threat of a game against Santa Clara on their home floor tomorrow night. I know they are not off to a great start, but they have also held the "Giant Killer" hat many times over the past decade (see UNC last year).

I am not very familiar with UC Riverside, but should the Bison see them, it sounds like that one shouldn't be too difficult. They are winless, lost to a D-III team, and are listed as 16 point dogs to Santa Clara today (Speaking of which, why do they still not put lines on Bucknell...I would be very curious to see what they would be. I'm sure they will have one for the nationally televised Duke game.)

One note of optimism is that I have a feeling there will be a surprisingly large contingency of Bucknell fans there. The Bucknell west coast alumni base has grown rapidly. This is their one and only chance to see this very good Bison team out west, so I bet a couple hundred fans will show up in Orange and Blue.

If the Bison can take this tourney, it will be no small feat. If the pollsters realize that, then I think BU may find themselves in the Top 25 an hour or two before the tip at Cameron on Monday.

If the Bison don't take this tourney it can in no way be anything but a huge disappointment, which is exactly why I am concerned. The distractions have to be mounting, what with the national attention, The "Season," etc. Hopefully they maintain their focus.

Personally, if we have not gotten there by now, I do not think anything short of a win vs Duke gets us to the top 25 (AP/USA Today versions), but we are already highly ranked in every other conceivable ranking. 17 in Pomeroy, 7 in RPI, last I looked 7 or 8 in Sagarin. Also it seems that it is time for someone who votes in the MM Poll to break ranks and give some first place votes to someone other than Gonzaga. (how about it Ralph?)

We are even #25 in the CBSSportsline.com Top 25 now.

Maybe Gonzaga's loss last night will be the impetus to get a few brave souls to give us a #1 MM vote should we take the Cable Car. I think NIU also has a tough game at Bradley tonight. If they lose there, the door will be open for Bucknell to jump to #2.
