Theoretically if an independent played the "right" schedule (preferably all on the road) and went 0-26, losing every game by 50+ points, it could still have a fairly high RPI. Strength of schedule (and the SOS of your opponents) plays a large part in the rankings, and the point differential in your wins/losses does not matter. A 1-point loss in OT = a 50 point loss in regulation.

In the Sagarin rankings, the Bison fell to #26, which is probably a reasonable spot. They are about 1 point ahead of St Joes and Syracuse.
