some interesting quotes from the PL media day. perhaps the best news is that O'Hanlon predicts BU will consistently beat out squeedunk for recruits with scholarships.

Some Flannery quotes on effect of scholarships:

"You're always going to have a certain student-athlete, let's not get so far ahead of this that you don't recognize that. With our first class, the kids are better players the same students, but better players."

"You're not going to see Big East or Atlantic 10 players in our league, but with the caliber we have, we can get enough to compete against [bigger schools] at more than one position."

John Clark, a 6-7 forward from Tulsa, Okla., might have walked on at the University of Tulsa if Bucknell had not offered him a scholarship.

An early scholarship offer brought Chris McNaughton, a 6-11 center from Germany, who later was pursued by a good number of schools.

O'Hanlon on effect of scolarships on the PL:

"a lot of times it comes down to finances, bottom line. But I'm excited for these guys. Bucknell and Colgate are top institutions, and they could raise the balance of power. It's not the Big East or the Atlantic 10, but after that, would you rather go to Bucknell or "squeedunk'? I think the Patriot League has the potential to jump above some other leagues, and then you're going to attract better students and better athletes."
