No kidding, at the half in East Lansing, Mich., the score is MSU 33, the Bison 32. Bettencourt has about 15 at the half.

Go Bison!!!

Bucky

Tough loss.....could not believe the inability to shoot free throws.

while there is a lot of good to take away from the MSU game performance, it is very rare to get an opportunity to win a game like that. an absolute shame they could not hit a respectable percentage of free throws; would have had a great shot at the win. the coverage would have been great; instead the primary story seems to be 1-17.

on the plus side, it's been about 5 years since the Bison have been competitve in a game with a major team (can't count PSU as major despite Big Ten affiliation). really looks like Brown will be a major factor this year, all other frosh will contribute and probably more so as season progresses. rebounding stats were all we could hope for; if can stay on the boards all year the team will be much tougher in big games than last year.

game with Yale is a big one. much to be learned playing a good mid-major team that should not be looking past them now. hoping to make it to the game on a northern swing for the holiday.

Aside from the free throws, Skornik exceed all expectations grabbing 11 boards against a big physical team.

I personally think just having McNaughton in practice will improve Skornik as he finally has someone to bang against and work on his game.

The minutes for the freshman in a tight game peaks volumes to the future of the program. Further, Niesz had a good night and Quin was relegated o limited minutes. Hav you ever known as team where both it's captains will potentially see so few minutes?

Bettencourt has no business at Bucknell. Other teams must be wondering how they passed on recruiting him.

agree re Skornik. if he can generally avoid foul problems this year, he can contribute a good bit to the team. i hope he and McNaughton can effectively share time at center and expect there will still be days when Skornik picks up 5 fouls in less than 20 minutes of playing time.

as for Bettencourt, an alternative view is that he made a great choice in Bucknell. a chance to be a key player from the outset, learn and improve on the court. depends what sort of challenges and role an individual wants to play. if your point is simply that some higher programs should have shown more interest, i can agree with that, but won't concede that he would necessatrily have been better off in a higher level league.

That was my point....he would have probably ridden the pine much longer at another school and I'm glad we have him. It is curious to me though how a First team greater Boston Metro player and Boston Herald player of the year comes to Bucknell. He's not tiny at 6'2", can dunk which only demonstrates he's athletic, unlike me, can play the 1 or the 2.....

Bucknell will have it's bad nights but this is a dangerous team.

I have been giving thought to the Flannery situation as others I know have suggested they are disappointed with the job he has done since coming to BU. I think in retrospect what the playing time for all of these young guys represents is just how bare the cupboard was without the benefits of the new facility and merit aid. As he continues to recruit, I think we willsee the skill that brought him a DIII national title.

A great win against Alabama in 96 could be bested this year if the Bison can put it together and make the first round. McN can bang with the best of 'em. Bettencourt just needs to continue to be consistent.
