Saw your post and could not resist responding even though I did not go to Bucknell. Of course we have heard of your schools and know they are fine schools. The PL is one of only 2 football conferences that is based upon academics along with strong tradition and competition (the other is the Ivy League). Tradition is a big factor, as the schools in the PL are fairly old (Towsen, which was a anomoly, does not count and will be leaving the PL) and have had a long tradition of competing with the Ivy League. In fact, the PL is considered the sister league to the Ivy and perhaps that is where the biggest source for others seeing the PL as a snob league is based. True, some in the league are somewhat snobbish, over all the PL still makes sure it's athletes meet the minimum standards of the schools and ALL member schools are among the best in the nation by any measure. Most schools do not share that academic/athletic philosophy and bifrucate admissions standards where Ivy and PL do not.
