With the players soon to report, let's get some chatter about the prospects for the Bison gridders. For starters, which newcomers show the most promise? Possibly QB Ryan Ahern who is coming to Bisonland over the Air Force Academy? Mark Oppong, 6'4", 295 lb. DL who was on the recruiting board at Stanford, Central Fla. and some MAC schools? RB Corin Erby, who prepped in Connecticut after graduating from Christ the King HS in NYC, where he was a sprinting champion as well as a star FB player? DLman Jon Grainger who was defensive MVP in the city of Pittsburgh? Shall I go on? Please, give your thoughts.

The defense must improve and Daris Wilson must stay healthy. Remeber Wilson's 199 yards rushing vs. Fordham? Over 60% of his passes were completed. Will the Bison pass more this year? Should they? What does "go 'gate" think? By the way, congrats 'gate on last season.

Come on, let's play Bison chatball!

Bucky

given the greatest need is on the Dline, I'd give Oppong and Grainger the best chance for immediate impact. while the Oline has more depth, Conti might be an early factor. too many Sr. QBs return to allow much time for newcomers unless Ahern is an absolute star.

truth is, often turns out a couple of guys whose high school profile looks very ordinary are the first to emerge and contribute.

as for the team as a whole, should be improved over last year, but may not translate into a lot more wins. looking at the schedule, 7-4 would look like a good outcome to me.

very, very difficult to judge. Correct me if I'm wrong, but two years ago didn't we recruit a kid who was first time all state from Georgia on the OL, bring him to Bucknell, and he's not on the team any longer? Was his last name Bell?

At any rate, this system is going to favor us recruiting more quarterbacks who were lights out in HS but didn't have the arms or height for D1 teams, the athletic, option style back.

I think our strongest position appears to be RB this year. Lots of depth, some good runners.......

Agreed on the record. Tough OOC schedule should prove alot, early. This 7-4 team won't be blown out in the 4 it loses like last year.

Agreed. I see Bucknell with 7-8 wins, including a real chance against Villanova on 9/2. Landis' system has had a year to sink in and the BU offense will score a lot of points, I believe.
