correct, the picture would have to be posted somewhere else, webshots, you've got pictures, etc. etc.,,,,

on the main page it talks at the bottom about how to post a pic.

here is the info....Embedding an Image in the Message Area.

You can also post several pictures in one message, by posting them in the body of the message. You will need to include the HTML tags so the pictures show up correctly. In the message field type
< img src="http://www.servername.com/yourimagename.jpg" >.
now for this example there are spaces after < and before > so you can see the example, but when you do it with your link you will leave no space after < and no space before > hope this makes sense .
