So is a man born corrupt or does it take a combination of experiences to turn someone to evil?

The "nature vs. Nuture" debate continues to rage in biology circles with regards to the extent to which certain events can influence behaviour later in life. It would be improper and unprofessional to speculate as to the conditions surrounding Nick Law's upbringing. However, at the risk of appearing as devil's advocate, Might Mr. Law's treatment whilst at the school not perhaps account for some of his subsequent match fixing activities?
-Let's look at some of the facts.

Firstly:
Mr. Law arrived at King's filling a vacuum left by unfortunate ugliness victim Mr. Goodall. Surely the kid's would see Law as a such a breath of fresh air that they would welcome him as 'one of the lads'? Law's friendly appeals to the students to treat him as one of their own were met with coolness, almost hostility in the classroom.

Secondly:
On the sports field- It's difficult enough having to show up at a new school when all the pupils are sat in front of you, but when you have a load of active, pre-university keen sportsmen to teach, nagging doubts are bound to creep into your mind about all those heavy drinking sessions in Lancaster students union; all those fags, kebabs, spliffs, casual sex, and other student trappings. Will the kids notice that you're not quite in the shape you once were?

Thirdly (and perhaps most importantly):
If you arrive at a school expecting to teach History, then you expect to be able to do it with the support of your fellow members of staff. It can't have been easy trying to talk about Italian unification whilst downloading Encarta articles onto the 'V' drive (which no one used- another blow to the self esteem) without being interuppted by Richard Stober, fresh out of the Quantum Leap accelerator having come back from the body of Victor Emmanuel II in order to correct your map of Europe without asking. These kind of intrusions are just plain annoying. And if you've got a timetable to keep to, you want to start teaching as soon as you get to the classroom. You can't do this if Stober's still sat quite happily talking about how he thrashed the Earl of Clarendon at poker then fucked Anne of Cleves over Bismark's desk.

So perhaps we should be lenient; the webmasters suggestion of weeks of DHD's as punishment is in my opinion is a bit harsh. Perhaps just a lesson in humilty is needed, I think a night out on the piss in sheffield in Cricket whites with Chas Hubbard, watching as repeated sarcastic comments fail to get any attention from the ladies should suffice.
