Subject: The Way Home

John 14:4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

"The way ye know." Have you ever observed the migrations of animals and birds or maybe have read about migration. Birds and animals that migrate have a built in "homing device" that guides them to their destination. Hummingbirds will travel thousands of miles to their winter nesting areas in South America, although they may have just hatched out that spring. The Monarch butterfly will do the same without a map or sign posts to follow. They just know the way. God built it into their makeup.

In the beginning God drove man from the Garden of Eden because of the sin he had brought to the creation. This was man's paradise and the only heaven he knew. Just as there is within these birds and animals knowledge of where "home" is God has placed a beacon that draws man back to paradise.

Every saved Christian has a stirring within from time to time that pulls him or her toward a paradise he has never seen. It is a longing for not only the paradise lost but also for the fellowship that was enjoyed in that paradise between God and His crowning creation; Adam and Eve.

We are constantly and gently drawn to a home God has prepared for us (Jn. 14:1-3) that is far greater and more beautiful than the first paradise. It is a land of dreams come true where there will be no more separations from loved ones. There will be no more sickness, pain nor death in that land of our desire. The beacon that draws us to that land is Jesus Christ who awaits us and greets us at our coming.

Jesus said "ye know the way" and indeed we do. Any child of God knows the way and we glory in the passage that tells us "I am the way". Heaven today is set somewhere on the sides of the north (Ps. 48:2, Ps. 75:6-7, Isa. 14:13) somewhere past the "empty place" (Job 26:7) over the north on out past Ursa Minor and the north star. This is where God's throne is today. This is where we long to be in the spiritual man. The one who draws us to this place is our Saviour Jesus Christ. He is what makes heaven so desirable.

The Apostle Paul said he was caught up to that place in 2 Cor. 12:2 just as the Apostle John was caught up and recorded sights in the Book of Revelation that we can only fantasize about. Look what was witnessed to us: Revelation 21:9-14 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. 10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; 12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Revelation 21:16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. That number is equal to 1,500 miles in length width and height. Not your average city and this is just the city. It is not the complete third heaven by any stretch of the imagination.

Revelation 21:17 Revelation 21:17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. At 18 inches to the cubit the wall is 216 feet high and it is made of pure pure jasper. The foundations, which are 12 are garnished with all kinds of jewels and gemstones. Can you imagine such a breathtaking sight? This is only part of the description but the rest is just as breathtaking.

BUT we may not even really notice all this at first. Why? Our eyes will be drawn to the One who has brought us here. "The Way". High and lifted up (Isa. 6:1) with magnificent beauty and glory. The glory of Jesus will completely overshadow what He has created for us.

Yes folks, Jesus is the only way to get to this place. He is the one who has placed the "beacon" within us which is the Holy Spirit who is constantly drawing us to Jesus and the way home. We have His promise that He will see us home.

One that would lead them back here more often. I have peeked in every day and seen no activity. I assume everyone's busy getting ready for the holidays. Charlie and I will be traveling to Atlanta for a few days before Christmas and then will go to Chicago for a few days after Christmas.... so I won't be around much, either. Will you and the twins get much of a break for the holidays, Hillbilly? I hope so. I imagine you could use some down time. *-)

But we won't be able to break for the length of time the public schools do as we have to factor in Dale's trips to Vanderbilt. We use normal off days to keep them from getting behind. On days we have to go to Vanderbilt they have those days off instead of normal off days.

Dale is going twice a month for I.V.I.G. infusions at Vandy as well as her other scheduled Doctor's appointments.

She has been fighting a bad sore for the last two months that won't heal. (Pyoderma gangrenosum if you would like to look it up on line). It is quite nasty and very painful. About 3% of Crohns patients develop these.

Has she noticed any improvement of her symptoms with this treatment? I sure hope so, considering what you both have to go through to take her there.
I keep you both in my constant prayers. God bless you!

as a whole with the I.V.I.G. infusions but the jury is still out as to whether it is worth it. We were told it would take some time before we could really discern the results so we are staying with it for now.

The main problem is that they dropped one of her meds. in order to take the infusions and we are now wondering whether this medication was keeping hers P.G. sores under control.

Thanks so much for your prayers.

I wish the same for you and Dale. And for your whole family. You have many blessings, especially those precious granddaughters who you've graciously agreed to teach. I know they will thrive under this special time with you both.
Merry Christmas to you all... and to all my special friends who visit here.
