It hit home to me before I ever put my thoughts down for others.

I have talked to preachers about this and most will admit their sermons are often to themselves first and then to the congregation.

I left attending church for 10 years but God was always pulling me back and bringing me under conviction about my sin of desertion.

For me; "Wasted years, oh how foolish".
