Hebrews 1:1-2 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Seldom has so much information been crammed in one short passage in the Bible. First it declares that God has spoken and still speaks to man. It declares that at different times, times of God's own choosing He has spoken to the Old Testament Fathers through prophets. It also declares He spoke in diverse ways. Looking back He spoke to Abraham by appearing as a man (Gen. 18). He spoke to Moses from a burning bush. (Exodus 3:1-6) He spoke to Elijah as a still small voice. (1 Kings 19:12).
He visited Daniel by dreams and night visions. (Dan. 7:7,13). To Israel in the wilderness He spoke in the cloud and pillar of fire. God has spoken through his creation and David acknowledges it in Psalm 19:1-6 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. 6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. All of these ways and in others not mentioned God has spoken to man in the past. Now we are in the new dispensation of the Church age and the writer calls it the last days (in prophetic time 1,000 yrs = 1 Day. This would be the 4th day of the week leaving only 2 days in his time before Sabbath rest or Kingdom) in verse 2 and declares the voice of God comes through His Son whom he has appointed heir of all things. (Jn. 3:35, 16:15, Matt. 11:27, 28:18) This inheritance includes the entire creation. That includes the earth, all that is in the earth and all that is in the heavens. John 3:35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. This includes all power: Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. This includes a throne: Luke 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: This throne is not only over Israel but He shall have dominion over all the governments in the world. Ephesians 1:20-22 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.
In the first 2 verses then we see that the most powerful being in existence has communicated and continues to communicate to man in the form of the Son of God. It is unfathomable that such a being as God would stoop to talk to men at all, much less to talk to us as a man. That is exactly what He did. God robed himself in flesh and came as the incarnate Word. John 1:1,14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. This is the word we have today. It is the incarnate Word of God printed for our understanding. Every Book in the Bible and every word is there by the will of Jesus Christ. This is how He has spoken to us in these last days.
Why won't we listen?
