Ecclesiastes 3:4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

From the practical standpoint there is not a one of us who cannot relate to this verse. We all have had our "times"; our ups and downs if you will. Each of us has wept bitterly and each of us had times of great merriment and laughter. We have mourned the loss of loved ones and we have had our moments where we wanted to dance for joy or dance just because the occasion called for dancing.

Notice in the verse that the weeping comes before laughter and the mourning comes before dancing. The verse is one that speaks of the life cycle of events that happen to nearly all of us. There is a verse in Psalms that shows the pattern that Solomon has shown in this verse. Psalm 30:5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. God's "frown" shows up before His "smile". We are not in favor until we come to Him in repentance and make Him our Lord. In the creation, darkness was present before the light of the world was given. Night time is the time of bumps in the night and fears of those sounds. It is in the night that the child dreams and screams out in fear at the nightmare. Sickness seems deeper in the night and pain seems amplified. There is just something out the night time and it's darkness that instills fear and dread that is associated with the weeping. Sunrise however wipes away the fears and tears. There is just something about that sun coming up that most times brings a quiet peace if not joy. The return of Christ is pictured as sunrise in the Bible. Psalm 19:1-5 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

David knew of God's anger and he knew of the sorrow that came because of the anger of God. David lost a son because of his sin with Bathsheba. He prayed one time in Psalm 51:12 " Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit." God's wrath melts away with true repentance. There can be joy again in the heart of the one who is forgiven.

David wept, mourned, laughed and danced. His joy in God knew no bounds when he was in favor with God. In 2 Sam. 6:14 "David danced before the LORD with all his might; " It was time for him to dance. He was leading the procession that was returning the Ark of the Covenant to the City of David.

Down here on earth we all weep and mourn. We all have dread and fear during the dark times of this life. Well folks, just be patient. Our joy is coming in the morning when the SON will rise. "But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings".(Mal. 4:2)

Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Now, that ought to make us all dance.
