Subject: Go And Tell It

Psalms 71:17-18 17 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. 18 Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.

How often have we heard an elderly person say; "I am good for nothing" or "I am old, what good can I do?" The prayer of the Psalmist here in the 71st Psalm is "Lord, don't cut me off from this life as long as I can tell others of this generation about You." Many are the octogenarians that have a marvelous witness as to how God has brought them through great trials in their lives. They can witness to God's goodness, His healing powers and the peace he has given in the storms of life. As long as a person draws breath, has presence of mind and can talk, he or she can be a living testimony for God that can lead others to trust Him.

There is nothing that we face that God has not been there with others thousands of times. My wife has been fighting Crohns disease for 16 years. She is approaching 66 yrs. and many have been the people that have told her how they have been inspired by her upbeat disposition during her many times in the hospital. She has always praised God for going through the trials with her and has never blamed God for not healing her in the way she would desire to be healed.

In 16 years she has never had to have surgery yet. There were times when the doctors were leaning that way but we always said only as a last resort. We spent many hours in prayer and while healing has not come we can truthfully say "God's grace has been sufficient". (2 Cor. 12:9) God help us that we never resort to a "pity party" during these rough times.s

My own testimony apart from His gift of salvation in my life is that He has been with me through my eye disease that threatens blindness. I have taught adult Bible Class in my Church for nearly 30 years and I announced a couple of years ago that I would soon have to give it up as I was having such difficulty seeing and reading. I asked if someone would step forward and take the class and no one volunteered. I said I would stay and try to teach as long as God gave me the sight to read. I use an extra large print Bible at Church and do all my studying on my computer where I can enlarge the font size so that it is easy to read. At the rate my sight was deteriorating I thought I would not be able to see over a year ago. God has continued to allow me to see enough to read and study. I keep magnifying glasses handy and get others to read labels at times but God has made a way for me to keep proclaiming His Word and His goodness.

I and my wife can truly relate to the Psalmist when he wrote verses 17 and 18 of the 71st Psalm.

Maybe someone reading this has just as much trouble and trials as I and my wife have had. Folks let me tell you something here that many before us have discovered and proved over time. "He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." (Heb. 13:5) Trust Him, try Him and prove Him and then go and tell this generation the goodness of God.

Go and tell it: And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Matthew 28:18-20(NKJV)

The great commission.

Truly Inspiring! When I was a very young Christian (in my mid twentys)I came under demon attack one night as I lay in my bed. A demon told me I was going to hell and in the next instant after it said that Jesus spoke and told me He would never leave me nor forsake me. Those words are very precious to me!

Isn't it wonderful that Satan cannot take what belongs to God?

These evil spirits are like the haunted houses we visited on Halloween in our youth. The "spooks" could frighten and threaten but but they could not have us. We belong to God and: John 10:28-29 "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

Praise God for His marvelous keeping power!

Loving Shepherd of Thy sheep,
Keep Thy lamb, in safety keep;
Nothing can Thy power withstand,
None can pluck me from Thy hand
