Subject: Satisfied?

Deuteronomy 32:9 For the LORD'S portion is his people; ---. Lamentations 3:24 The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

When one contemplates the two verses above there must be a striking contrast in the thoughts that come to mind. According to the writing of Moses the people of God are His portion. That is His allotment. It doesn't matter that He created them and they rebelled they are still His portion. That is what He gets.

Jeremiah on the other hand said "The Lord is my portion---". Who got the best portion?

God's portion to Himself of His creation led to the cross.

Jeremiah's portion from God assured him a place with his God and Lord in eternity. Who got the best deal?

When we meditate from perspectives such as this it is apparent that we are totally unworthy of our portion and God was and is totally underserving of His corrupt portion. He deserves far greater than we have given or for that matter ever could give. Have we stopped to ask with the Psalmist who wrote Psalms 116:12 the same question he posed? "What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?"

Indeed dear Christian brother or sister what shall you render back to God for all He has so graciously given to you? I have to ask myself that same question and I find that I have given far far less than I should have given and far far less than I could have given.

I guess it comes down to this question: Am I satisfied with my portion and is God satisfied with His?

Something to think about.

There must be a Gremlin in the room.
I agree... we don't give God his due. I'll bet he wonders sometimes why he bothers with us. 8-(
