Subject: Reason to Rejoice

Habakkuk 3:17-18 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: 18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Times are tough in Habakkuk's day. God has given him a vision of the coming Chaldean hordes to strike Israel down. It is the time of God's judgment on Israel for her spiritual whoredom and Habakkuk is sorely troubled by what God has shown him. Famine, drought, failed crops and no livestock left.

Habakkuk's reaction is not the normal reaction of any people in similar circumstances. When God's judgment falls there is no remedy unless God chooses to postpone His judgment. The world today is facing a like situation yet the world as a whole is oblivious to what is coming.

Christians today are in the position of Habakkuk. We know what is coming because God has told us so in His word. The question then for us then is what is our reaction to what we know is coming? Do we fear and tremble at God's sore judgment on a wicked world?

Folks, we need to look around us in our own country and compare it with the whoredoms of Israel. God had repeatedly warned Israel and Israel had turned a deaf ear. God's judgment was pronounced. God has repeatedly warned us through His word to obey God and we will not. What do you think God is going to do about it? Jeremiah 12:17 But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD.

Look at the trouble and disasters that have plagued us for the last several years. Droughts, hurricanes, tremendous fires, deadly tornadoes of increased frequency and magnitude. One nationwide drought of one crop season duration would bring untold famine not only in this country but around the world. Is it not the hand of God as He has warned?

How many babies are ripped and torn from their mother's wombs in this country. How is it that legalized murder has come to abound in such fashion. Has God turned America over to a reprobate mind (Rom. 1:28). Child abduction and murder after horribly abusing the child. Has God turned His back on America?

Look at the recent ruling from the Supreme court regarding homosexual marriages. Do you think God is pleased with this abomination? Judgment will surely fall and it will come swiftly as it did to Sodom and Gomorrah. We are running out of chances to repent. We as God's children can repent only for our own actions and we will not be held accountable for that which we have stood against but we will be caught up in the national judgment that is befalling this nation.

Look at our financial condition as a nation. From the richest nation ever on the face of the earth to the greatest debtor nation ever on the face of the earth. Haggai 1:6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes. God's judgment is on us.

Look at the leaders that run this country. Wicked workers of unrighteousness that mock God continually. God has said He will not be mocked. Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. We have sown the wind and we are reaping the whirlwind. (Hos. 8:7) God's judgment is upon us!

We see all this and are troubled. Are we going to say; "Woe is me"? or are we going to do as Habakkuk? We see the wickedness and we see the judgment can we say with Habakkuk; "Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation." Take note; the scriptures say that when we see all these things start to come to pass we are to look up for our redemption draweth nigh (Luke 21:28) My hope is in Jesus Christ. It is not in Washington D.C. My hope is not in the leaders nor the military which has been greatly compromised and weakened by the inclusion of homosexual and Islam friendly Generals and officers. Rejoice in God for all this must come to pass before He calls us home and gets us out of this mess. Be thankful that He has given us ample warning.

We are just that much closer home folks. In this we can rejoice. "Even so come Lord Jesus". (Rev. 22:20)

Your words are so true, Hillbilly...
We can see it getting closer and closer as we normalize same sex couples in all of the TV shows and movies and our SC changes the laws to allow for society to change to accommodate this trend. We see America pulling away from God and mocking Christians and actually thinking that Christians are worse than Muslims in their practices. Americans like to have their religion all happy and non-judgmental and non-denominational. They've allowed, and even in some cases embraced, casting from public view all the religious symbols we've known for all of our lives.
History has shown them where we're headed, but they are listening to the soft whispers in their ears, telling them only what they want to hear.

Ezekiel 14:13-23 Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it: 14 Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD. 15 If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts: 16 Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate. 17 Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it: 18 Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves. 19 Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast: 20 Though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness. 21 For thus saith the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast? 22 Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it. 23 And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord GOD.

God will destroy the wicked but He will preserve His own. That is our hope and comfort and this is the reason for our rejoicing in the Lord even when trouble comes.

I do worry about my kids, none of whom want anything to do with church, although they all believe in God. Meesa told us that we could baptize Ada by the Internet if we wanted to. I don't think she was kidding.

I was thorougly shocked and dismayed to hear that Queen Elizabeth II has signed a Gay Marriage Bill Into Law in England and Wales. One of her royal duties is Defender of the Faith. England has been going down the tubes from the great empire it once was for a long time now and, to me, that will be its final gasp. As a former British subject who was brought up under the Union Jack and taught to honor it and the monarchy it breaks my heart to see it, in the words of Daniel Patrick Moynihan, "defining deviancy downwards."

Just as in Big Brother, we have learned that we can lose jobs and friendships for speaking out against what is considered the norm--and that's becoming the norm.
And if they disagree, they can be bullied into thinking they're wrong. It's a sad state of affairs.
