....trying to get caught upo at work and choir practices and tonight the concert, Sat. another concert, Sunday singing at Mass... then I can rest. Pheeewwww! Vacations are fun, but we pay for them when we get home.
Can't say I was too happy with the Central Coast weather while we were there, Connie. Three inches of rain fell in two of the four days we were there. LOL! I guess you really needed the rain, but would it have hurt you to wait a week? *-)
Hillbilly, I hope Dale is all recuperated by now and things have normalized at your house. I worry about you two.
Well, gotta get going to work. Just wanted to check in and say I'm home!
xoxo

If you think the weather was bad when you and Charlie were here (and it was) here's our weather forecast for the coming week.

A frigid low-pressure system moving across the Central Coast today through Saturday has the potential to leave a blanket of white on areas that rarely experience snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow levels in the region could drop as low as 500 feet, and the weather service and other agencies are warning motorists, campers and hikers that the storm could be deadly for those who are unprepared.

“The concern would be the temperature of the storm, more than the amount of rain,” said Capt. David Sadecki, with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. “It’s supposed to be very cold, with very low temperatures, and that could really catch people off guard, especially in the wilderness areas.

“You could be in an area that would normally be OK, and could have some really heavy snow,” he said.

Last weekend, four people who got caught in a similar snowstorm in the mountains above Santa Barbara were rescued by emergency crews.

Two men and two women in their 40s and 50s were hiking near Cathedral Peak on Saturday afternoon when they were overwhelmed by snow and cold conditions, said Drew Sugars, spokesman for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.

The hikers were wearing light clothing, which quickly became soaked, and some of them began suffering from hypothermia, Sugars said.

Today’s storm is expected to be more severe, and anyone planning to travel into the mountains this weekend should plan accordingly.

The high temperature in the Santa Maria and Lompoc valleys Saturday is forecast at 41 degrees, and the low, below freezing, at 31 degrees.

Sunday should warm up to the low-50s, with lows in the mid-30s.

Connie, I feel your pain. That's what we deal with half the year here... grin. It sounds like this is a good time to stay home with Wendy, huh? *-)
HB, thanks for the update on Dale and her Mom. Although this latest bout for Dale resulted in cataract surgery, it sounds like it went well. Good! That's bad news about her mom. She has really suffered a long time. I will keep them both in my prayers (you too, as the caregiver).
I think I need a picture of the new kids, AND a new picture of the twins would be appreciated as well. 8-)
Have a nice weekend, my sweet friends.
PS Yes, Connie and I DID have a great meet up, Hillbilly... but it was way too short. 8-(

Dale is much better. She is on high dosages of prednisone and is gradually tapering down. The prednisone has caused her cataracts to "explode" and she has had to have cataract surgery. She had her left eye Wed. and will have her right eye done next Thur. Everything went very well and her vision is great again in her left eye. We are praying for the same in her right eye.

Her mother is progressing slowly. The blood clot is not dissolving at a rate that can be noticed and the doctors say that it may never get better.

Other than this all is well as can be expected. Had two new baby goats born last Sunday and the twins are loving it.

I gather you had a good time on the "left coast" and enjoyed your time with Connie.

Good to see you back.

Glad to hear Dale is improving. I had cataract surgery a few years ago and wish I had had it done sooner. Used to wear very thick glasses especially my right eye but only have to use reading glasses since my surgery. The surgery itself was a piece of cake. Sorry to hear your mother-in-law isn't improving more quickly but maybe things will pick up. Hope so. I bet the twins are having a ball with the baby goats. Kids and animals just go together, don't they? Yes, it was good to meet Dori and Charlie in person after all these years but the weather was lousy. Take care, luvs ya and God Bless.
