I guess a better word than survived is preserved. God has preserved them as a peculiar people unto himself (Deut. 14:2). Not because of any worthiness on their part but simply because of God's promise to Abraham which He can never break.

Abraham was faithful to his part.
God will be faithful to His promise conditioned on Abraham's obedience.
