I asked my grandson (who's pretty computer literate)how such a thing could happen and here's his reply.

I'm not 100% sure how hackers get into people's email accounts, but I do think there are programs that keep running possible password combinations out there. Some people are really tricky and will use whatever information they know about the person to their advantage. Just make sure your friends use passwords that are made up of weird words and numbers. Make it as tricky as possible. Something like "moodymother7489", or "littlericky1972"... Just something that you would know, and something that is long." Another thing to do is change your password often... maybe every 3 or 6 months. These are just suggestions. :)

Many a password cracker be out there, they are used by "script kitties"...
