I watched John Hagee's sermon today on TV. Very insightful as usual. Unfortunately I didn't have pen and paper on hand to take notes so I hope I get this at least partially right...grin! His sermon was on covenants but he started off talking about the Talmud and how originally it was just one scroll with no chapters and verses (this occurred later by the Archbiship of Canterbury). Anyway, he said (I think) that the original writings were believed to have numerical meanings e.g. there was a total of so many words in the Talmud (I think it was 5822 but not sure) and each number coincided with a Jewish year number of significent event and the year (again not sure but I believe it was 5803) brought you to Deuteronomy 30:3 which was the return of the Jews (Israel) to the promised land. The corresponding year was 1948 and, of course, we know on May 14, 1948, the nation of Israel was reestablished in it's homeland.

Sorry to be so vague but, as I said, I didn't have pen and paper to write it down. Have to admit that I find this intriguing but wish I could have been more factual in reporting it.

I have no way of verifying nor disproving prophecy in numerics to this extent. It would take a lifetime of study.

I do know that numbers play a very significant part of the scriptures and have "dabbled" in it somewhat.

It would not surprise me at all to find this so. Mathematics is the purest of all sciences. It either adds up true or it adds up false. There is no middle ground in math.

What little I have played with is in 7's, 12's, 3's, 40 etc. God has used numbers extensively in His Word and they play a great part in the temple building itself.

If you are interested in this you might get "Numbers in Scripture" and "Witness of the Stars", both by E.W. Bullinger.

He was considered to be the foremost authority on Bible numerics at one time and may still be.

These works can be found on line and downloaded I believe.
You should be able to find them on any search engine by either E.W.Bullinger or by the respective titles.
