 there's plenty of day trips from the old harbour in Skiathos town and/or you can book ferries/hydrofoils from the travel office facing the new harbour on the corner of papadiamentis st. I dread to think what little banana's like in August I only go off season. They 'plant'a load of umbrellas and loungers over little banana now from the end of May which has really spoilt the ambience IMHO plus the beat from Big banana is annoying enough in May. You can chance a couple of other beaches on the island like Mandraki and Elias but I wouldnt know what theyre like in high season. In Skiathos town the restaurants on papadiamentis are a bit tacky IMHO but the ones on the old port and headland above it and back streets behind it are pretty good. Not so much choice in Koukanaries but enough for a fortnight but good bus service to skiathos town even late at night.
