There are several tavernas around the harbour area, including the part where the yachts tie up. At the far corner, just before the supermarket (Carrefour), there was a quiet place, called Enigma if I remember aright, where they could rustle up all the trad Greek dishes and even had WiFi. Felt little inclination to go anywhere else, but did note a couple of promising-looking places at Manganari.
Didn't see any evidence of louts as described, but I was late in the season.
