Not giving my name or the island I visited on this occasion, but am a regular poster here. We don't as a rule visit the more commercial islands and places as I want to be in amongst it so to speak and will always go to Greece for my holidays. I did blow a fuse during my holiday and had to turn the other way to my shame and after a while is an easy thing to do whilst drinking raki.
I discovered people who can't afford to pay their rents sleeping on beaches, in tents, in caves, in clapped out cars and makeshift shanties. When I remarked people are entitled to a roof, bed & food in their stomach I was told by some local I live in utopia. However, I did see many fat priests drinking, smoking and having a jolly nice time and other people foraging for food in all sorts of places including bins.
This hasn't put me off Greece, I will always support in anyway I can, what does annoy me is that I have seen hunger in the EEC and it could get worse if the Greek Government & Church doesn't do something about it NOW.
They need us more than ever now, please go.
