Gentlemen of the U.S.S. Euryale,
Thank you for your service to our country in the time of our greatest need. I am honored and proud to be the son of one of your shipmates, George Chelemedos, EMc3.
I regret to inform you that he passed away on Sept. 10, 2000, of natural causes.
He never spoke of his experiences in the Navy, and it was only after he had passed away that I found out what you gentlemen lived through. I also found out about the secret British submarine rendevous, and the reason for that secrecy, after he passed away. I also knew that he was in Japan, but I never new the locations.
Your generation knew how to keep secrets, and in the case of my father, he kept those wartime secrets to his grave.
THANK YOU ALL, and may God richly bless you all,
Peter Chelemedos
(P.S.; And thank YOU, Katie, for keeping this website, and their memories, alive.)
