Landis T. Diedrich was my uncle. I'm trying to reconstruct some of his service history in WWII. He was born in Nebraska, and was living in Seattle when he joined the Navy. After the war he lived in Los Angeles. I was able to talk to him several times between 1948 and 1960. He mentioned serving on submarines. I was in the Navy stationed at Pt. Mugu from 52 to 55 and I met him for a few hours at another relative's home. He said he could (sometime) show me some photos he took from the periscope camera but we never got together for that. I was not aware of his connection to the AS-22 till I ran across this website yesterday.

I remember my grandparents concern during the war as they didn't hear from him for months at a time. As volunteer family historian I've been particularly interested in the service of my two uncles.

While I hardly knew Landis, I maintain contact with his son and daughter and would like to be able to tell them more.

If anyone remembers Landis - or just remembers a photographer's mate on board, I'd like to hear from you. My email address is rdiedrichs@cfu.net and I live in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Thanks.
Bob Diedrichs
