The Oceanside earthquake of July 13, 1986 at 6:47 am, PDT which was magnitude 5.4 and had 1 death and 21 injuries was accompanied by thunder which preceded it by about 3 or 4 seconds. I had already woken up at the time and lying there listening to the early morning sounds when suddenly I hdear the thunder and knew instantly what it was. I waited for the pressure wave to hit, but due to the nearness almost instantly both waves hit and moved my apt about 2 or 3 feet to the NNE diretion, as I was up on the 2nd story. A bit scary at the time.
