Hi guys,

(Sorry this is in English or else it will take me a whole weekend to type it up in Chinese.)

I am going to post the photos very soon on the website. They turned out not good because I didn't use flashlight during the concert. I didn't want to disturb the audience. I had successfully written down all the name of the songs that they performed. (See my previous post.) My friend Eddie however brought his "real" camera and said he had taken some good ones and he would send me his good photos soon. Please be patient.

About the concert, all I can say it's a very refreshing one. Some of songs that they performed sounded very different because nearly the whole show was "acoustic", meaning that, guitars were the nearly the main instruments. The backup vocals were amazing!! The show had four distinct parts; the first three parts were each artists' solo performance (Lo Yip Mei, Albert Lui of Tai Chi and Samantha). Of course, Samantha performed last because she was the star of the show.

Lo Yip Mei's performance was stellar!! Her voice was very beautiful and crisp. The song that's most memorable was when she sang "The Boxer" + 感情線上. It all blended together very nicely. She also was the "host" of the show because she told jokes all the times, making the concert very fun to see. She actually said, "You don't want me to stop telling you jokes and tell me to shut up because you will see how good the other two talk." Meaning that Albert and Sam don't know how to talk confidently on stage. (Quite True ^_^)

Albert's performance was fine and stable, but more shocking was not his performance, but his appearance! He looked like a college student! As a solo artist of folk songs, his image of "Tai Chi" was all gone. He was also very humble, and his guitar performance was very good. He did solo guitar performance on Sam's 你的眼神。

Sam's performance rocked! All the songs that she sang were like a perfect record. We all agreed that she didn't sing enough songs, but actually she sang the same number of songs of the other two did. When she sang 你的眼神, I had goosebumps 起雞皮 because the first verse she sang it without any music 清唱 and everyone in the concert was silent. And she sang it perfectly!!! Everyone gave her huge applause! She also sang 愛是不保留 and the stage effects were very impressive. The applause was roaring! She ended her solo performance of the night with 偶遇 and it sounded very different from the performance she did on TVB music show 20 years ago! She was confident, had good stage appeal, and songs sounded very nice.

The last part was a tribute to Sam Hui's pop song. The surprise was Sam's solo on 鐵塔淩雲!Very unexpected and refreshing! Everyone was clapping their hands!

I met with Samantha a few days before the concert and she said she would prepare another album and had it release the 1st quarter of 2005! It will be similar to her previous album, new songs + cover songs, with emphasis on collaborations with main land Chinese musicians. Her manager John also said that they were considering a concert in HK soon next year!

Seeing Sam in real person was very heartwarming and I would treasure it in my heart. I would like to say thank you to Samantha, John, Gary and Eddie here for making all this possible.

Victor
