Hi, Clara!

I joined a gym and take all different types of dance classes there. I like step aerobics, too - particularly if the class is highly choreographed. The gym where I am a member offers various jazz classes as well as NIA, which is a FABULOUS environment where you really can't do anything wrong.

I'm a "nerdy" student and always like to be in the front (by the mirrors) so that I can pay close attention to the instructor and to me without having to look at little skinny behinds around me. I find that when I see that I can move just like the other people in the class, even with my extra poundage, that makes me happy.

No, I'm not thin enough to shimmy into a little black dress. I am about 60 pounds overweight. I danced in my younger years when I was thinner, but never took dance consistently... and that's one of my regrets.

I have never been much into bar hopping, but I did go to a bar a few weeks ago with a friend and was able to let loose a little bit. (The margarita helped, I think...)

I have no pets, but I have been know to do the naked house dance...

Yes, ultimately I would like to shed these pounds, but in the meantime I have to find a reason to smile every day. It is completely dangerous for me to obsess over being fat... that just makes me feel fatalistic and then I want to eat more...

And dancing makes me smile... so I do it. :-)

There is nothing more beautiful that a person who expresses him/herself through the freedom of movement... and I find that with or without extra ounds, the beauty remains...

So DANCE and be happy!

me
