In reply to: Soleil 's message, "Well I'd like to learn about the symbols" on 12:27:26 04/28/02 Sun

*she takes out a bag of pebbles, each with a sign on it* Well, to begin with, there is the penticle...probably the most famouse...I'm sure you know it.......see? *points to Soleil's new book* get writing! *resumes her lecture* so...where was I? oh, yes...So, the elemtnes meanings are as follows:
Air - intelligence and the arts
Earth - stability and physical endurance
Fire - courage and daring
Spirit - the All and the Divine
Water - emotions and intuition
*grins* oh my, I can go on and on...anyway...The symbols for the elements are as such.... And then when penticles are made out of diffrent objects...*flips open a book and reads out loud*"When made from silver, the Pentacle represents moon energy and psychic forces. When crafted from gold, it signifies the sun energies of power and strength." see? *motions and mentions quckly* if you run out of ink I have some right here.... Oh, the history of the penticle is very interesting...In the Middle Ages, magicians considered the Pentagram more powerful than the cross. Wherever the Pentacle was displayed evil had no power. As an interlaced single line is is considered to be spiritually protective as a "gateless" symbol. Therefore no evil or undesired energy can enter into the circle of the pattern. *grins* watch out, I talk quick. If you'd like I can teach you a recording spell to record my voice, then you can write it all down in your book...shall I go on? Yes, alright...anyway...Upright, the Pentagram represents redemption of the Spirit from matter by ruling over it. Inverted, the Pentagram symbolizes Spirit submerged and bonded into the material elements. *smiles and waits for her to copy all the info into her new book of shadows*
