A friend of mine from Peterlee John Hillam is making a trip around the world and visiting as many Drop Zones as he can his aim is to raise money for NACC.
The National Association for Colitis and Crohn’s disease.
It’s not one of the better known charities but a very worth while cause.

The first jump of the trip was made at the Wild Geese then he is traveling to Spain, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, South America, West Coast USA, Canada and the East Coast of the USA.

Hey guys, just informing those of you who dont know. There is a pub crawl on Friday 2nd March in belfast. I believe we are starting in the Eg to meet up but have better pubs to go to after dont worry. It starts at 7:30pm and all are welcome.Us skydivers dont meet up to get pissed enough as we all know.

You obviously haven't been on the famous Algarve pub crawl.
Ask John what time the taxi leaves.
Last year it was two days into the trip before some skydivers actually jumped, and there were a couple of other days when they needed a break for more drink. In fact some nights they were so busy drinking they didn't even bother going to bed at all (ask Mike Murphy)The Algarve pubs never close.
Yes ....... us skydivers never get together for a drink !!

Hopefully most of you know by now, but we're planning to have a 3-way scramble at the geese on the weekend of 23rd/24th September. It'd be great if everyone could show up and make the competition interesting. Usual format: jump on saturday, bbq & piss-up sat nite & jump on sunday if your in any state to do so. Also lookin at the possibility of night jumps on saturday but nothing definite yet.

Just checked flights to Chicago for next summer.
Aer lingus fly Dublin direct to Chicago for 750euro (£507) including tax and charges!
Continental fly belfast to Chicago via NY for $1170 (£640)inc tax and charges!!!

I'm looking at sony camcorders to fly with which ones are the most common or best. Does anyone use those new harddrive cameras yet. I like the idea but I think altittude changes have negitive affects on them. Not sure any thoughts!

Hi guys and girls
was looking at flights to Luton on Nov 25th (Sat)to go to the Airkix wind tunnel.
Flights are about £45 return going at 06:35 and coming back at 19:35
15 minutes will cost £125 (if slots are shared i.e. 2,3 & 4-ways you can get at least 30mins for the £125.
If anybody is intrested give me a shout.

Alright guys? Hope the 50 tandem saturday went well! The weather here has been crap. We did manage 2 days of jumping at Ramblers drop zone in Queensland. Jumps included an 11 way and a 17 way (only managed to build 16, J Lowe didn't find his slot) Heading to America now to get away from the rain! Convention Updates to come on balloons, DC-9 jet etc, etc...

April 29th -- Rod, 00:40:52 04/18/06 Tue

Oh hear yee, Oh hear yee.... For anyone interested and all those who already know about it. April 29th (bank holiday weekend) is for experienced skydivers, so far zero tandems booked, two possibly, three pilots. Not to expect it every lift but Maggie has stated that for the regular jump rate ie £7 plus altitude we can go to 15k thats £22 to 15,000ft providing theres a full lift and its pre arranged. We are hoping to get wheels up at 8.30am So anyone interested needs to be there at 8am. As for the latter part of the day usual rules apply 'bring your own' there will be a few extra nibbles so know one will starve and if you wanted to chance your arm i'm sure a few students will get beer fines for first freefall or first time in the caravan or basically any daft first they wanna buy beer for. Hope to see you all there.

Just a note to anyone who is not going to Portugal. Declan Carlin and myself are heading to Skydive Spain form 16th to 23rd April. Flights return from Dublin to Malaga £180 at present. 6am flight from Dublin, 10.30pm flight home = 6.5 jumping days. Car already hired. 20 euro to 15000 every jump. Anyone interested?

The Caravan is Back -- Alex Brand, 21:11:43 03/04/06 Sat

The Caravan has returned safely for is Winter maintainence? Unfortunately the weather is not so good, however hope to see you all on the 29th April for the BIG WAY EVENT. Hopefully we will have another pilot trained and we might be able to put up the caravan and two 206s, total of 20 people, do we have enough experienced skydivers to achieve this? over too you?

There are now 3 of us going to Ilinois this summer. Declan Carlin, my brother and myself. 19-31 July, fly direct to NY from Belfast, and then to Rantoul. Balloon jumps, a jet, 30000 halo, helicopter, bi plane, $20 jump tickets, free beer (yes!), organised entertainment. Would love some more geese to come along.

I will be in Australia and am flying from there, but there are direct flights to NY from Belfast. Return flight from NY to Champaign is £100 at moment. We are just going to camp. The 'tent city' gets a good write up as regards fun. Check out www.freefall.com for more info. There are showers for campers. Plenty of cheap accomodation in the town.

We too were sorry to miss out on the Christmas fun.. we were in the throws of having a little baby boy. Baby Callum weighed in at 8lb 7oz and, after a week in hospital, made it home on Christmas Eve. Both Callum and Lisa both well and hope to be down the Geese in the New Year.

Hello to all you video buffs out there, as my 200th jump approaches I'm thinking about taking up the camera.
I ve been offered a cam corder for sale 2nd hand and I'm wondering if it would be suitable for use in jumping.
Spec is....
SONY HANDYCAM
DCR-HC19E

The guy is looking £220 pounds for it still has 6 months gaurantee.

Any comments on how good this camera would be for jumping would be greatly appreciated.

Last time Geese crowd went was nearly 10 years ago!
Loadsa new jumps this time round like DC3, Sikorsky, inverted bi-plane, Super King Air, 30,000 ft HALO jumps, hot air balloons,etc... cheap as well!

BodyFlight Very Windy Tunnel -- Warren, 09:14:12 10/10/05 Mon

Was over the pond at the weekend and took a detour to Bedford and used up the tunnel vouchers. It is the buisness and some craic, the instructors are top class, nothing too much bother, in the same session they coached from AFF students to 2000+ jumpers so theres something for everyone.
Once winter sets in we should get this club trip organised, we could be there and back in a day so get them pennies saved up..

Rumours are spread, that SKYDIVE ALGARVE has moved or relocated its anuual activities away from the ALGARVE in Portugal.
SKYDIVE ALGARVE assures, that the Skydiving operation continue to be at the Algarve, on the Aerodromo Municpal de Portimao in Alvor, Portugal as usual and advertised.
It is true, that the back-up aircraft of the years past needed to be substituted, resulting in the same airlift-capacity as usual.

Boogie-Dates:

1) X-mas-/New Years Boogie 2005/2006:
Dec. 21, 2005 - January 8, 2006.
2) Spring-Boogie 2006:
March 3, 2006 - April 3, 2006.

Hello to anyone that remembers me. I jump at Chatteris but am originally from Hillsborough and I met a few of you (Sully and co.) in Perris last Christmas.

Anyhow, I heard from one of the tandem instructors here that some people from Peterlee are going to the Geese this weekend and there might be a little bit of a boooooooogie going on ;) Thought I might pick this weekend to pop home for a bit!

Any plans then and is it just Saturday and Sunday that you are jumping or is there any happening during the week.

Up to the end of July they are selling special rate tickets at £30 for 5 minutes and you are allowed two of these.
There is no use by date on the tickets so it’s a good chance to try out the tunnel.

the IPC are prepared to use both the porter and the islander to facilitate BIG WAYS.

This may or may not be another record, it is possible to go 18.
This is more of a celebration of the porter and a farewell to the islander,
so get your ass on the DZ for
09:00 hrs sat 30th.
