OK, full details of crossbow quest:
Go to Watch House at Psuedopolis Yard, go all the way south to the training ground.
'get crossbow from table'
'read crossbow'
Remember what it says.
Leave watch house, and go to Mr. Stronginthearm (from watch house exit it is e, se until you can go w)
In the shop mention 'fix crossbow' or the like. He will ask for serial number, tell him what it said on the crossbow. He will ask for lunch. Go to Groaning Platter and buy ale. Go to the bakery on baker's street and buy a loaf of bread. Go back and give them to him, he should go to the watch house and fix the crossbow, except it is missing string.
Go back to Stronginthearm's shop, and 'buy grease' and 'buy crossbow string' (you may have to first ask about crossbow string to buy it).
Go back to the crossbow, 'string crossbow with string' 'grease crossbow with grease'. This should fix it, now hold the crossbow, and 'pull bolt from dummy' to get a crossbow bolt. 'load crossbow with bolt' 'fire crossbow at dummy', and that should do it. When Mr. Baraby comes, say yes and then follow him. The shield is supposedly the only worthwhile item.

Please don't give out quest info.
