Subject: Crossbow String problem

Ok whats with this? my other char can do this fine but my new char when trying to string the crossbow it snaps! and ive tried this 4 times which means ive paid 60 bucks for nothing! whats with this? do u need some kind of skill to string it or is it just badluck?
