I haven't done Veteran Explorer or Crypt Robber yet, so this is jumping the gun, but as for the 4 gems: so far I've found the black one in the fountain and the blue one from the thief, but I haven't found the red one or the green one yet. The green one is supposed to be in the Lancre Caves, and I went there and all I found were a few water sprites. Someone else could have taken it already, and it may take a long time to regen.
